François-Hugues de VAUMAS Producer, director … “They didn’t know it was impossible, so they did it” After graduating from ESC Tours (Escem), François-Hugues de Vaumas started in television (Expand Interactive: Fort Boyard, Les Minikeums, etc.) before founding Aloest Productions with Xavier de Lauzanne. A passionate expert on audiovisual techniques, he chooses the most suitable resources for the various productions Aloest is in charge of. Always aware of new technologies, he comes up with innovative solutions and likes technical challenges. Alongside his production activities, he directs museum and corporate films for which he develops his directing talent. Strong technical choices, a sharp sense of didacticism, and faultless aestheticism are the guiding lines of his films. |
Xavier de LAUZANNE Author, director, producer … “In documentary-making, I like to act as a lampshade” Born in 1970 in the Paris region, Xavier de Lauzanne studied to be a hotel manager before setting up hotel management courses for underprivileged young people in Martinique, Vietnam, and Cambodia. He bought his first digital camera in 1999 to film a documentary in Vietnam for a year, Hanoi entre deux 14 juillet, about a bicycle-powered rickshaw’s journey at the turn of the century. When he met the founders of the charity, “Pour un sourire d’enfant” in Cambodia, for whom he made an informational film, he gained concrete experience of directing. Now, 15 years later, he has made over 10 documentaries, three of which for the cinema: D’une seule voix (2009), Enfants Valises (2013), Les Pépites (2016). |
